Grandfathered Status Rule’s Impact on Group Health Care Weighed

Amanda Layton, associate in the Employment, Labor, Benefits and Immigration Practice Group in Philadelphia, comments on the June 14 issuance of interim final rules by the U.S. Departments of Health and Human Services, Treasury and Labor regarding the Grandfathered Plan Rule under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The provision provides that while “grandfathered” group health plans are exempt from some of the provisions of the law, they must still make many of the changes required by it.
